For the first time in 30 years, the Himalayas are now visible to the Indians. They gaze upon the range from over 100 miles away, only possible because of the Coronavirus lockdown. Within the state of Punjab lie many cities, which all have high pollution levels.

However, due to the recent Coronavirus lockdown issued in the country, pollution levels eased. New Delhi saw up to 44% “PM10” air pollution. “The phenomenon is likely possible because of industry shut down, cars not driving on the roads, and many canceled flights.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi ordered a closure and the country has been in lockdown for more than two weeks.

Locals are taking photos of the range, as it is an extremely new sighting. “Because of this lockdown, we can now see our beautiful mountains,” Manjit Kang wrote. Only essential services ran. The rest, including stores, offices, and public transportation, have all been suspended.

We all wish this pandemic never happened. However, one bright side of this quarantine is that we can now see some parts of nature that were hidden before.

Coronavius is a common virus that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. In early 2020, after a December outbreak in China, the World Health Organization identified SARS-CoV-2, commonly known as COVID-19, as a new type of Coronavirus. The outbreak quickly spread around the world and the infections range from mild to deadly.

Main symptoms include:
  • Fever
  • Coughing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Chills and body aches
  • Loss of smell or taste
  • Diarrhea
The virus can lead to pneumonia (lung infection), respiratory failure, septic shock, and even death.

It mainly affected adults in the beginning but soon it started to show effects in children. Three New York children, including a Suffolk teen have now died from Coronavirus linked illness as reported on May 10th, 2020 on Newsday. The first New York death happened to a 5 year old boy in New York City. The illness causes swelling of blood vessels and complications that include inflamed heart muscles and breathing problems. The New York State Department of Health is calling it Pediatric multi-system inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID-19. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has asked parents to look out for symptoms such as prolonged fever, severe abdominal pain and chest pain. Over 99% of kids do very well with COVID, but parents should be very observant especially if COVID has been in the household and a child starts to develop high fever, abdominal pain, and rash.

Some experts think that the illness is an overreaction by the body's immune system to COVID-19. State officials have said a 5-year old boy in New York City, a 7 year old boy in Westchester County and a teenager in Suffolk County have died from the syndrome. Some children with this syndrome can have rash, red eyes, or red lips and tongue, racing heart, trouble breathing, and chest pain.

Coronavirus is called a fear virus by many people, but don't be scared, the cases are decreasing and people are living more than before. Just make sure you wash your hands, wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and eat healthy.

Thank you and stay safe! :)

What are Coronaviruses?

Coronaviruses are viruses that can affect mammals and birds. The human coronaviruses include common types 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1. These coronaviruses can sometimes cause illnesses like pneumonia and bronchitis. Thankfully, most cases of coronavirus only last a short amount of time.

Where Did Coronavirus Come From?
The coronavirus came from Wuhan, China. It either came from a local seafood and animal market or recent reports think it came out of a laboratory in Wuhan that was studying bats. The virus has spread to different countries, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, France, Italy, Vietnam, and Nepal.

Impact of Coronavirus

The Coronavirus is spreading from person to person. There have been more than 6,000 cases confirmed in China, but thousands more are suspected. The death toll in China has risen to 132. Every day, the confirmed number of infected people goes up.

Do You Think You Have Coronavirus?

The symptoms of the killer disease are a runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat, fever, and a general feeling of being unwell.

How Does the Virus Hop From Animals to Humans?

Coronavirus was most likely transmitted from the consumption of snakes or bats, but we have also found out that there was a change to one of the viral proteins in 2019. NCoV allows the virus to recognize and bind to receptors on certain host cells.

How to Prevent Coronavirus

To prevent yourself and others from getting coronavirus, you should do these things:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with dirty, unwashed hands.
  • Keep distance from people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.

Stay safe!!
